Janae began her dance training at Salt Lake Dance Center where she participated in nine years of competitive dance. Her training, while there, consisted of ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and contemporary dance. After attending The Joffrey Ballet’s summer intensive in New York City, Janae decided to focus her training on ballet, where she began attending The Salt Lake Ballet Conservatory under the direction of Cristobal Marquez. At the age of 16 she was invited to be a company member of Odyssey 2, the pre-professional training company of Odyssey Dance Theatre.
There she was exposed to modern, musical theater and ballroom, along with the forms of dance she had been training in. She performed in Odyssey Dance Theaters hit shows: Thriller, It’s A Wonderful Life, and Shut Up & Dance for three consecutive years. She has also taken voice lessons under the directions of Jennifer Neff and performed in Tom Sawyer the Musical as well as a USANA Industrial Show. Upon graduating high school she was accepted to many universities including The University of Utah where she was offered a full ride scholarship to both their modern and ballet programs.
She chose to attend Chapman University where she was accepted on The Dean’s Scholarship. She received a double major in Dance and Integrated Education Studies with an emphasis in Non Governmental Organizations. Upon graduating she performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in their annual Christmas performance. She has a passion for teaching and helping to bring the same joy that she has found through dancing into other’s lives.
