Here are all the classes offered by The Edge.
The Edge Dance Studio offers 3 different levels of classes to meet the needs of all our students’ time commitment readiness and financial situations. Please read the descriptions below to find the right program for you and your students.
Recreational classes are non-tryout, non-competition classes open to boys & girls of all ages, 18 months – 18 years. These classes teach you the basics of dance and introduce you to several different styles of dance. A few of our recreational classes include performance opportunities at our year-end Spring recital, while other recreational classes offer a small in-studio showcase twice a year.
Some recreational classes may require a certain dress code, tights, and/or shoes to participate. Please check the policy page for the classes that have specific dress codes before purchasing any items, or check with the front desk. Additionally, those classes that participate in the recital will be required to purchase costume(s) and pay a small recital fee. Classes that participate in the in-studio showcase may also be asked to purchase/provide items for the showcase. We try to keep these costs as minimal as possible.
Dancers are welcome to take one, two, or as many recreational classes as they would like. You can also mix recreational classes with our intro to competition classes! Class schedules can be customized to fit your wants and budget. Recreational classes that are marked with an * are the classes that perform in the year-end recital. Classes marked with an ^ are the classes that participate in the in-studio showcases. If the class is not noted with a symbol, the class does not participate in the recital or the in-studio showcase.

Pre-professional classes are open to boys & girls, ages 6 – 18 years. These classes are tryout only, designed for the more dedicated dancer who is looking to progress faster and master several different genres of dance, and prepare them for a possible career in the dance/entertainment industry. These classes, depending on which level of team you are accepted on you are required to take several different classes that aid in their progression.
Our pre-professional classes will compete at 4 – 6 Regional and National competitions around Utah, and sometimes out of state competitions, and does require some travel. Although many of our competitions are fairly local, these teams may also attend competitions and/or conventions or other performance opportunities that may be out of state. They will also perform at our year-end Spring recital. Dancers will be required to purchase travel gear and bags. Some classes the pre-professional teams are required to take may require a certain dress code, tights and/or shoes to participate. Please check the policy page for the classes that have specific dress codes before purchasing items, or check with the front desk.
Additionally, pre-professional classes are required to purchase costumes and pay a small recital fee, pay any travel costs, attend any extra master classes or conventions, and pay competitions fees that allow them to participate at competitions. You may be asked to purchase specific makeup and hair accessories as well. We try to keep these costs as minimal as possible.
These classes teach dancers respect, hard work, team work, responsibility, punctuality, time management, and sportsmanship. While we push these dancers to be their best, our focus is NOT on the win but on the journey and growth that takes place on the way to the win.
